He’s played by Eddie Redmayne, whose boyishness initially seems at odds with the work of professional murder until you witness the dispassionate coldness with which his Jackal kills. As a man of unplaceable age with an affable yet unshowy manner, he can become anyone as and when required.

I will fully admit that I'd never even heard of The Day of the Jackal until I knew I would have to write this review. I have essentially no experience with
